Introduction to School Psychology:
School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically,
socially, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents,
and other mental health professionals to create safe, healthy, and
supportive learning environments for all students. Primary roles
include assessment of cognitive, academic, and social emotional
functioning to assist with appropriate educational programming and
consultation services to problem-solve effective solutions for student
learning and positive behavior outcomes. In addition, short-term
therapeutic services are offered to students experiencing
social-emotional difficulties that interfere with school performance.
