Brief Resume:

After graduating from Cedar Grove High School in 1988, I earned a BA degree in Education from U.W.- Whitewater in 1992. I then completed long term substitute teaching position in fourth and fifth grade at Cedar Grove and Oostburg School districts. Since 1995, I have been a second grade teacher here at Cedar Grove- Belgium Schools. I feel very fortunate to both work and live in the town where I grew up.

Introduction to class:

Second grade is a "bridging" year for children. We polish skills in reading and writing so that the students are not only able to learn to read but now also read to learn. In my classroom, we emphasize practicing fluency and comprehension when we read, learn effective ways to communicate both in speaking and in writing and build real-life problem solving strategies through cooperative and hands-on math activities.  Communities and the study of the world we live in is the focus of our Social Studies and Science activities. The children also begin to learn organization skills and responsibility through daily homework sheets. I enjoy making learning fun through hands-on activities and creative projects that get students thinking and inspired to learn more. I thoroughly enjoy the students at Cedar Grove Elementary and am happy to learn with them each day.
